| I-CoCOThe I-CoCO project (IPDASi – Correlated with Cochrane Outcomes) has been funded by the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making, and is led by Professor Glyn Elwyn. Cardiff University is working in collaboration with an international team from several institutions including, Newcastle University, University of Ottawa, University of North Carolina, University of Texas, and Washington University in St Louis.
BackgroundThe International Patient Decision Aids Standards (IPDAS) Collaboration has developed a quality checklist, and more recently an instrument (IPDASi), that assess the quality of patient decision support interventions. Evaluations of decision support interventions, summarised in a Cochrane review, have shown that they increase knowledge and are more likely to lead to informed values-based decisions than routine care. However, we recognise that further work is required to examine the relationships between IPDASi quality scores and the outcomes achieved in trials of decision aids. The I-CoCO project involves a 2-stage process: Study 1 - Correlation of IPDASi and Trial OutcomesAims:
Study 2 - Consensus on Core Criteria for IPDASiAim:
