Mark GreenwoodMark Greenwood is a research student based at both the School of Computer Science & Informatics and the School of Medicine, Cardiff University. Mark's PhD project is entitled: 'Text and data mining of antibiotic resistance information from electronic healthcare documents'. His project investigates to what extent can the integration of text and data mining methods enhance informed choice of antibiotic usage? This work will involve: Review of existing methodologies for text and data mining in clinical domains; Development of suitable methodologies for extraction of relevant types of information from medical records; Development of suitable methodologies for mining patterns, associations or correlations among the data contained in medical records; Integration of 2 and 3 into an expert system for justification of antibiotic prescription and tracking their effectiveness. |
